FAQ ABOUT CHIN FILLERS
What are fillers?
Fillers are an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. Fillers are used to replace lost volume or augment an area in the face, neck, hands and even sometimes the body.
When will I see results?
The results from dermal fillers are instantaneous.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment needs are based on a variety of factors including; your age, recent weight loss, area being treated, desired look, your metabolism and even the type of filler used. It is best to schedule a consultation prior to any visit to ensure you understand your treatment plan. You and your provider can come up with a plan that meets your expectations while being respectful of your budget.
How long do the results last?
Each filler comes with its own expectancy of duration based on the results they received during their own clinical trials. Most of the fillers used at Glam Rx are from the Juvederm collection of fillers which last 18-24 months. Other brands last on average 8-12 months depending on the type of filler used and the area it was injected. At Glam RX we only use quality products that last and our clients are happy with. Keep in mind, while the filler may last 2 years, it doesn’t stop the aging process and maintenance is recommended to protect your initial investment.
Will I need time to recover?
Recovery is dependent on the area injected and whether or not you followed your pre-care instructions. Post care instructions will be given to you at the time of your appointment. Most patients experience tenderness in the area injected for up to 3-5 days. Some areas, such as the under eyes or lips may take longer to heal. Most injections in the face do not cause significant swelling that is noticeable to others. However, injections in the lips or under eyes tend to noticeably swell for 7 days in the lips and up to 2 weeks for the under eyes.
Is there anything I need to do prior to getting injections?
It is recommended to not drink alcohol or take NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or aspirin 7 days prior to injection. If approved by your primary provider, stop all blood thinning supplements such as:
- fish oil
- turmeric
- ginger
- garlic
- ginkgo biloba
- evening primrose
- melatonin
- vitamin e
- cayenne
Stopping these supplements and medications will decrease your risk of bleeding and unnecessary bruising. It is also recommended to stop caffeine intake at least 24 hours prior to receiving any injections. Additionally, lower your salt intake prior to receiving injections to lessen swelling afterward.
